Cocina de Kat starts Baby Food in CDMX - Orders Close Monday June 18, Pickup Wednesday June 20

Cocina de Kat is breaking into baby food! I have noticed that there aren’t very many healthy, varied combinations of baby food here in Mexico City. My baby foods are all made fresh from fresh ingredients and cooked in the healthiest way possible. All of my fruits and vegetables are steamed and all of the meats are baked, roasted, or boiled with broth or olive oil. There are no preservatives or added sugar. Each puree combination tastes exactly like the foods that it is comprised of.

From closest to furthest: zucchini, beets, peas, and apples cooking

I make different puree combinations each week. They can safely be stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours or in the freezer for 3-6 months. They come in frozen one-ounce cubes and can easily be defrosted in the refrigerator over night. You can defrost one flavor at a time or place multiple cube flavors together to make your own combinations.

When introducing new foods to your baby, it is best to wait 3-5 days in between new foods so that you can identify any reactions of allergies that your baby may have to a new food. Both of my children have had food intolerances and allergies, so I am well versed in cooking for specialized diets. Please let me know if you are needing foods for your baby that are gluten-free. I am happy to help you with this. All of my baby foods are dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and nut-free.

To order, I will have a Google Order form each week posted on Friday morning and will close on Monday morning at noon. I will prepare all baby foods on Tuesdays and they will be ready for collection in Condesa on Wednesdays. I will have two pick up locations for your orders including:
·      My apartment above Restaurante Lardo at Agustin Melgar and Mazatlan.
·      Parque España
You will be able to choose which flavor combinations you would like and how many ounces you would like of each. The prices will be listed for each combination. Fruit and veggie combinations will be less expensive than combinations with meat because of the price differential in purchasing. All combinations will be reasonably priced for the quality of the purees. All foods will be pureed twice- once in a Ninja blender and a second time in a baby food mill. They will be of a smooth consistency.

Ideally, for this to be as eco-friendly as possible, I would appreciate it if you can bring your own storage containers when you collect your cubes. These can be glass containers, Ziploc freezer bags, or plastic containers. I would suggest bringing a different container for each of your different flavor combinations. By using reusable storage containers, we reduce our environmental footprint and save on the cost of materials that would need to be added into the food costs. I will have Sharpee markers available to label your containers with the food and the date when you pick them up.

While I have successfully run food operations in Qatar and Peru, this is a new venture for me in Mexico. I am happy to hear any suggestions or advice you may have for how this can work better for you. My goal is healthy, fresh baby food for all of your little ones just as my girls have benefitted from the same meals. My three year old is an excellent eater and her favorite foods include green beans, carrots, peas, turkey, and salmon. She rarely eats processed foods and eats each meal with gusto. I have no doubt that this love of healthy food has come from having been offered these meals since she first started solids. I would love to help instill a love of healthy, real foods for your little ones too.
